Desiree Dudley

Desiree D. Dudley is Director of Strategic Relations and Outreach at the Foresight Nanotech Institute, a twenty-six year old Silicon Valley non-profit dedicated to advancing emerging technologies, from nano and biotech to space development and artificial intelligence. Desiree gets professional inspiration and joy from precisely facilitating connections between world-class scientists, engineers, entrepreneurs, venture capitalists, and promising young students to leverage the full potential of Foresight's vast cross-disciplinary network. She also consults, contracts, and advises in the for-profit space on business strategy, negotiation, marketing and development; she's worked in a wide variety of capacities with organizations such as Invivokines (protein synthesis), SkyPhrase (natural language), ONE-Nano, Stanford University, JoeConsumer.com, A-Life Medical, Merrill Corp, and the Personalized Life Extension Conference. In a prior life, Desiree studied clinical, cognitive-developmental and neuropsychology in class and research labs at Penn State before being pulled away to Manhattan, where she worked for The Princeton Review's K-12 division and drew nudes in art studios at the National Academy of Museum School of Fine Art. She officially left academia more than once to find herself pushing at the edges of innovation of California: first as a young assistant for a South Bay e-healthcare resource startup by Caresoft called TheDailyApple.com, and later in beautiful San Diego, where she helped a friend founding an independent charter school called Innovations Academy. Yet her passions ultimately brought her back to the heart of Silicon Valley. Desiree has advocated and expanded on the nuances of leveraging the full potential in emerging technologies through mediums such as APWire, CNBC, NewSpace 2012, and at NASA-Ames. In her spare time, she's also written a forward to Nanotech For Dummies, won a San Diego Mensa No Limit Hold 'Em Poker tourney, and now serves as a mentor for The Thiel Foundation's 20Under20 Fellowship.
